Summer STEM Camps 

Presented by Kent State University’s Research Center for Educational Technology

All camps are hosted in the AT&T Classroom/Room 034 of Moulton Hall on the Kent State Campus unless otherwise noted. Cancellations must be submitted via email to lifelonglearning@kent.edu within 5 business days prior to the camp start date to receive a refund.

Full STEAM Ahead with LEGO® SPIKE™ (June)

Suggested Grades: Rising 3–8
Dates: June 15–18, Monday–Thursday
Schedule: 9–11:30 a.m.

LEGO® SPIKE™ is LEGO’s hands-on learning platform for amplifying children’s understanding of concepts for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM). Campers will engage in hands-on investigation of STEAM concepts as they build with LEGO® elements and program with the intuitive SPIKE™ App.

Introduction to Robotics & Coding with Blue-Bots & Ozobots

Introduction to Robotics & Coding with Blue-Bots & Ozobots

Suggested Grades: Rising 3–4
Dates: June 22–25, Monday–Thursday
Schedule: 9–11:30 a.m.
Location: AT&T Classroom / Room 034 Moulton Hall
Cost: $125 through May 10; $150 per camp after May 10

Campers will be introduced to coding fundamentals using Blue-Bot and Ozobot Evo robots. Through hands-on activities and challenges, students will program their robots to solve mazes, follow paths, and navigate custom-designed maps while building their confidence with basic coding concepts.

Exploring Robotics: Coding in Action

Exploring Robotics: Coding in Action

Suggested Grades: Rising 4-8
Dates: June 29–July 2, Monday–Thursday
Schedule: 9–11:30 a.m.
Location: AT&T Classroom / Room 034 Moulton Hall
Cost: $125 through May 10; $150 per camp after May 10

Campers will explore coding through hands-on activities with a variety of programmable robots, including mBots, Ozobot Evos, Edisons, and Sphero SPRK+. Participants will program robots to move, respond, and complete challenges while building computational thinking skills in sequencing, problem-solving, and logical reasoning.

3D Digital Design for Augmented Reality and Printing

Suggested Grades: Rising 4-8
Dates: July 6–9, Monday–Thursday
Schedule: 9–11:30 a.m.
Location: AT&T Classroom / Room 034 Moulton Hall
Cost: $125 through May 10; $150 per camp after May 10

Campers will design 3D projects for printing and create interactive AR experiences using tools such as 3DSlash, Maker Empire, CoSpaces, and Merge Cubes. Each camper will also 3D print one project to take home.

Digital Game Design

Digital Game Design

Suggested Grades: Rising 5–8
Dates: July 20–23, Monday–Thursday
Schedule: 9–11:30 a.m.
Location: AT&T Classroom / Room 034 Moulton Hall
Cost: $125 through May 10; $150 per camp after May 10

Campers will channel their interest in video games into designing and programming their own playable digital games. Using Construct 3, a beginner-friendly 2D game design platform, students will create games such as puzzles, platformer games, racing games, and interactive stories while learning the basics of game design and coding.

Young Explorers Camps (AT&T Classroom and College of Aeronautics and Engineering)

Young Explorers Camps

Suggested Grades: Rising 3–5
Dates: July 27–31 and August 3–7
Cost: $225 (Five-day, full-day camps; lunch provided)

Young Explorers Camps at Kent State University offer immersive, hands-on learning experiences made possible through a collaboration between the AT&T Classroom in the Research Center for Educational Technology and the College of Aeronautics and Engineering.

Campers explore real-world STEM concepts using age-appropriate technology, engineering tools, robotics and simulations. Students learn by building, testing and problem-solving in authentic university learning spaces, fostering curiosity, creativity, teamwork and critical thinking.
