National Safety Month

June is national safety month in the United States.  Injury prevention should never take a holiday and EHS continues to raise awareness.   Steps to take to prevent injuries including training and employee involvement.    We want employees to understand where the preventable injuries are and want to arm employees with the tools to understand these situations before accidents occur.  Also, be sure to complete an injury report if an injury occurs  on campus.   This information helps EHS to follow up on accidents and to help prevent accidents in the future.

Each week during June, there will be a new topic dealing with safety.  The first week is   Disaster Preparedness.

Tornadoes, floods and other events can be chaotic events. One way to help people remain calm in the midst of a disaster is through planning. Checklists for before, during and after these events can assist with organization and provide grounding in the moment. Do you know where the tornado shelter is in your building.  Have you taken the Emergency training provided in Vector Solutions, and are you connected to  Flash Alerts.   It is highly recommended that all employees take the Emergency Preparedness and Response Training.  Taking these steps helps keep you safe on campus. Do you know  where the nearest AED is located on campus?  Knowing the procedures is key to dealing with any situation and getting the information about emergencies on campus is just as important.
