Edward Bolden

What is your current occupational position or career, and what are your job responsibilities?

I am the senior director of Institutional Research at Case Western Reserve University. There, I am responsible for an entire portfolio of research and reporting about CWRU, which includes database development, analytics, and survey research. I work with stakeholders inside and outside of the university to develop research questions and then collect and analyze data to support decision-making.

How did the EVAL/RMS program prepare you to obtain or advance in your career?

The RMS program was extremely helpful for me to build my skills in research (especially survey research) and data analysis so that I could bring more tools to my position. It also exposed me to a wide variety of fields in which we could apply research and statistics, which helps when working with people from all areas of campus and different backgrounds.

What did you most enjoy about the EVAL/RMS program, or being a student at Kent State University?

The thing I most enjoyed about the program was the faculty. The courses were paced in a way that allowed me to work while completing the program, and faculty were all very approachable and understanding. It was clear they also have a passion for the topics they teach and just made it much easier to comprehend some challenging concepts.

Any other information about yourself that you would like to provide?

I was so glad to have found the RMS program and I'm thankful to all of the faculty for the time they spent teaching, mentoring, and working with me on research and writing.
