Immersion Excursion

Trip Description: Explore the outdoors in one of our neighboring National Parks. Kayak, stand up paddleboard, hike, outdoor rock climb (no previous experience necessary), and participate in a service project in the park. Trip Description: Explore your interest in media, broadcasting, and other communication industries as well as Atlanta's rich history and culture. Move in to your residence hall early (if you live on campus) and then head to Atlanta, where you will get an inside look at CNN headquarters and other Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. brands, like HLN, Cartoon Network, and CNN en Español. Meet classmates from your First Year Experience course (UC 10097), talk to Kent State alumni who work in the field, and make friendships before college begins.

Celebrating African American Experiences

Trip Description: Take a trip to explore African American history and culture in Detroit and Big Rapids, Michigan. Visit places like the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Motown Historical Museum and more. Make friendships with other students enrolled in your First Year Experience (UC 10097) and Black Images (PAS 20300) courses.
- Students must be at least 18 years old by the trip departure date in order to participate.
- Earn the University-required Experiential Learning Requirement (ELR) credit.
