Richard Mangrum, Ed.D., ATP
Biography
Richard Mangrum, Ed.D. is lead faculty for the Aviation Maintenance Management program. Dr. Mangrum is Chief Flight Dispatcher and has experience as an FAR Part 141 Flight Instructor.
Dr. Mangrum serves on the University Aviation Association Dispatch Committee. Within the College of Aeronautics and Engineering, he holds Graduate Faculty Status and serves on both the Graduate Faculty Committee and the College Curriculum Committee and is the Graduate Program Coordinator. He also serves on the NTT Executive Committee of the AAUP. While Faculty Senate Representative, he worked to develop minors in both Aviation Weather and Aircraft Dispatch.
Dr. Mangrum began his aviation career as a teenager growing up in Anchorage, Alaska where his father was a helicopter pilot working on the Alaska pipeline. He served 10 years in the USAF as a Helicopter Mechanic and holds an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics license. He also holds an Airline Transport pilot's license and Multi-engine Instructor's rating. Dr. Mangrum is a member of the FAA Safety Team.
