Announcing the Lean Kent State Office
The Lean Kent State Office is part of an ongoing university-wide initiative to help encourage and empower faculty and staff to improve processes. It serves the entire university, providing training opportunities and resources and promoting continuous improvement at every level.
What is Lean?
Lean adds value to those we serve and makes processes and services more efficient and effective through the reduction of waste. There are two driving concepts behind Lean:
- Respect for people: Recognizing that the people doing the work are the best ones to improve it.
- Continuous improvement: Pursuing perfection daily, but not letting perfect get in the way of better.

The Lean Kent State Office now has a physical home. To celebrate and promote the impact Lean can have at the university, we are hosting an open house, which will feature opportunities to learn more about Lean and how to get involved.
Please join us for light refreshments in 116 Terrace Hall on Thu.rs., Dec. 12, from 3 – 5 p.m. Remarks from Dr. Mark Polatajko, senior vice president for Finance and Administration, begin promptly at 3:45 p.m.
