    Biography

I am a full time faculty member and the lead faculty in History on the Geauga Campus. My focus is nineteenth century America, Colonial history, Ohio history, and modern US. I teach social history, covering minority groups, race-ethnicity, and gender history.

My research includes World War One and commemoration of war. Over the last four years I have received five research and teaching grants through the University (Kent) Teaching Council and Geauga Research Council. Research includes World War One battlefields, war and memory, and  collective behavior. I recently presented at a WWI conference at Georgian Court New Jersey, and the National Council for History Education in San Antonio Texas. Other areas of research include A Witness to Death: The Journal of Emily Nash, a nineteenth century professional mourner, and a public presentation on "The Threads of War," clothing styles and history of Civil War attire in association with Century Village Museum.
