September Wellness Offerings Focus on Healthy Aging

Every person should have the opportunity to live a long and healthy life. Healthy aging is about creating the environments and opportunities that enable people to be and do what they value throughout their lives.

Research has identified steps we can take to maintain our health and functioning as we get older. Adopting healthy habits and behaviors like improving your diet and levels of physical activity, staying social and involved in your community, using preventive health services and managing chronic conditions can contribute to a productive and meaningful life.

September is Healthy Aging Month, and wellness offerings during the month of September are designed to help employees learn how to care for their health across the lifespan. Visit the September focus page to browse offerings, including webinars on the changing culture of aging in America (Sept. 14), social security and retirement (Sept. 20), and cancer prevention (Sept. 27).

Also during September, join Employee Wellness for Mindful Monday (Sept. 12), a flowers and foliage walk and talk (Sept. 16), and a challenge focused on limiting social media usage (register by Sept. 12).

With questions about wellness offerings for staff and faculty, contact Employee Wellness & Health Promotion at wellness@kent.edu or 330-672-0392.
