Several important dates are coming up for admitted Kent State students, so we made a list to keep you and your student on track.
As we get back into the swing of things in the new year, we want to make it as easy as possible to inform you and your student of important upcoming dates, events and general information to know. We’re committed to making the next steps of your student’s journey to Kent State a breeze!
Here’s what you need to know:
-
Feb. 1, 2023 marks the first day your student can complete two vital tasks:
-
Register for Destination Kent State (DKS), New Student Orientation, which is a mandatory orientation event that takes place over the summer. Your student can sign up in their student portal, FlashLine. Parents and families are also encouraged to attend!
-
Apply for on-campus housing. Be sure your student applies right away to secure the residence hall of their dreams. If they’re not sure which hall to apply for, they can explore them all in our 3D virtual tours. If they are not living on campus, they need to complete a housing exemption form.
-
-
Admitted Student Events are coming up! All admitted student events are by invitation only. Your student will receive a personalized registration link to the email used to apply for admission, or they can access these events in their applicant portal. There are three main events: Future Flash Days, Next Steps Events and 30-Minute Flash Topics.
-
Future Flash Days are a huge celebration of your student’s acceptance to Kent State, where they spend the day exploring campus, meeting faculty and staff in their college, getting answers to any lingering questions and so much more! Invitations will be sent within the coming days.
-
Next Steps Events are virtual events where we will guide you and your student through DKS, the housing application and financial aid. We will send you and your student a monthly list of events. A list of January events was sent earlier this week.
-
30-Minute Flash Topics are virtual events in March that cover a wide array of topics, including student support services, clubs and organizations, study abroad, Greek Life, and all the incredible ways they can get involved on campus. Recordings of previous events can be found on our webpage if you can’t attend this year’s events live.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): You and your family have until Feb. 1, 2023 to submit the FAFSA to maximize your financial aid opportunities. Kent State's code is 003051. Need help submitting the FAFSA? Our financial aid experts are here to help. Contact the OneStop for Student Services at 330-672-6000 or visit their webpage to learn more.
-
The deadline to apply for most scholarships through Kent State's new scholarship portal, ScholarshipUniverse, is Feb. 1, 2023. This portal matches your student to more than 300 KSU scholarships and 6,000 external scholarships. Your student can search for a variety of different scholarships based on major, academic standing/achievements, financial need, activities, interests and more. Be sure to check your email. We will be sending important reminders to you and your student, and will include information in our Parents and Families Newsletter as well.
