Kent State University Retirees’ Association (KSURA) is pleased to announce their Fall 2024 events. These presentations are free and open to Kent State faculty, staff, students and retirees. First up: this Wednesday, Sept. 11, Amoaba Gooden, Ph.D., vice president for the Division of People, Culture and Belonging, will describe the mission of this new division, which combines the former divisions of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Human Resources. She will share what she hopes to accomplish in this role. 

  • Do you know a student who is in need of professional attire? Career Exploration’s “dress for success” Career Closet provides free professional articles of clothing to students in order to help them look their best. Students may keep the items they choose with no questions asked. The Career Closet is located in the CED offices in the Schwartz Center, room 261. Open M-F 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. This program runs on donations from caring faculty and staff.

  • Shana Klein, associate professor of art history, published original research on representations of Native American motherhood in U.S. art in the discipline's most prestigious journal, "The Art Bulletin." With funding from the AREI Klein's research shows how motherhood was politicized throughout history and continues to have consequences for Native peoples today. This research could not have been conducted without support from the AREI, an interdisciplinary research collaborative started in 2022 that advances racial justice.

  • The Department of Africana Studies and the Center of Pan-African Culture are proud to present "Artistic Jungle: A Visionary Fusion of Art, Fashion, and Technology." This extraordinary art exhibition features the works of two distinguished artists, Nana Kwesi Agyare and Georgio Sabino, III. It offers visitors an immersive journey through contemporary abstract and multi-disciplinary visual arts, and runs Monday, Aug. 19 through Wednesday, Oct. 30. The Mid-Exhibit Reception & Artist Talk will be held Friday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m.
