In spring 2021, the Jerry M. Lewis May 4 Lecture Series was created to honor the legacy of Kent State University Professor Emeritus of Sociology Jerry Lewis, Ph.D., and advance the scholarship of May 4, 1970, and the Vietnam War era. Proposals are now being accepted to present the series’ 2024 lecture on research or scholarship about May 4, 1970, the Vietnam War and its aftermath. The deadline to submit a proposal is Friday, Jan.

  • Kent State’s most generous annual tradition, Giving Tuesday, culminates today, Dec. 3, when the Kent State University Foundation matches donors dollar-for-dollar on gifts up to $1,000 per donor made to any Kent State University Foundation fund (until the $100,000 in matching funds run out).   • The Kent Chorus, a town-and-gown, non-audition vocal ensemble, will begin spring semester rehearsals on Tuesday, Jan. 14. The chorus rehearses on Tuesday nights from 7:15-9:45 p.m. in Room E112 of the Kent Campus Center for the Performing Arts. Registration for Kent Chorus participation will take place at 6:30 p.m.

  • Michele Criss, assistant director for Fraternity and Sorority Life at Kent State University’s Center for Student Involvement, was named a recipient of the 2024 Gayle Webb New Professional Award by the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA). This award recognizes emerging professionals in their first three years of fraternity and sorority advising who have made outstanding contributions and created impactful projects or initiatives. Criss will attend the 2024 AFA Annual Meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana, in the coming weeks to receive the award.

  • Online final grading for Fall 2024 - POT 1 (16 Weeks), F3 (Third 5 Weeks), W2 (Second 7 Weeks), begins on Friday, Dec. 6 via FlashFAST. Grading is also now available for any Fall 2024 course section that was flexibly scheduled. The deadline for grading submission is 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17. Any final grades for Fall 2024 courses not reported in FlashFAST by the grades processing deadline will have to be submitted using the Grade Change Workflow. These Fall 2024 courses will be available in the Workflow on Thursday, Dec. 19.
