Top Ten Facts That Prospective Graduate Applicants Should Know About Kent State... Number Six
The Kent State Physics Department holds the distinction of being number-one in the US for making physics interesting and attractive to non-science undergraduate majors, as documented by the fact that the fraction of all students across the university who take at least one physics course is much higher at Kent than at any other comparable university in the US.
The connection to our graduate program arises from the fact that all our beginning graduate students, as well as some of our more advanced students, are supported by a Teaching Assistantship duty that most often involves undergraduate education. Thus our graduate students receive training in various aspects of our record-setting undergraduate program, and this experience is a valuable asset in the future careers of our master's and Ph.D. graduates, even if their post-degree employment does not directly involve undergraduate education.
