CARES Center
The CARES Center is a space that supports students who have challenges with their basic needs. The center helps students who are experiencing food insecurity, homelessness, financial insecurity, and needs related to mental well-being. Connecting students to both on and off campus resources, the CARES Center is here to support students within the Kent State campus community.
Care Team
Kent State University’s Care Team is a cross-divisional crisis management committee that collaboratively assesses and coordinates a response to student behavior identified as reasonably posing a potential threat to self, others, or the University community. Referrals to the Care Team may be made by contacting the Student Ombuds Office at 330-672-9494 or the Dean of Students at 330-672-8003 or by email ODOS@kent.edu for a unified institutional response. If there are concerns about a student possibly being an imminent threat to themselves or others should call 9-1-1.

Kent State of Well-being is the university-wide effort to promote wellness, focusing on eight key areas. We strive to create a healthy environment and to prioritize the health and wellness of our community. Our department will foster a culture of health and wellness for students and employees at all Kent State campuses.
Step Up Speak Out
Step Up and Speak Out is a collaborative effort of Kent State University Counseling and Psychological Services, University Health Services, the Office of the Vice President Student Affairs, and Police Services. Step Up and Speak Out provides greater awareness of mental health concerns, including risk factors for suicide. This suicide prevention campaign represents a collaborative effort of Kent State University Counseling and Psychological Services, University Health Services, the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, and Police Services and aims to support individuals in need by educating University community members on protocols and resources designed to assist in disruptive situations or with distressed individuals.
