What should I do if a student tells me they need to miss class due to pregnancy?

All medically necessary absences related to pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, or recovery must be excused. This includes absences for doctor’s appointments and other related medical needs.

Faculty are expected to excuse absences that have been deemed medically necessary by a qualified healthcare provider.

Students should be referred to the Office of Gender Equity & Title IX at titleix@kent.edu to help document their medical needs and coordinate any necessary academic accommodations.
