UCM Social Media Staff
Nicole joined Kent State in 2014 after working as the Digital Media & Communications Manager of Hospice of the Western Reserve, where she managed the agency's social media strategy, blog, website and email marketing efforts. She is a Baldwin Wallace University alumna with a degree in public relations and a double minor in marketing and management. She enjoys playing golf, all things Disney, and her golden pup, Mickey!
Deanna joined Kent State in 2019 after working as a digital content editor at the Akron Beacon Journal/Ohio.com, where she aided the development and implementation of digital strategy for the newspaper. A legacy and alumna of Kent State, she's been cheering on the Flashes for decades. When she's not online Deanna loves to spend time with her family and friends, exercise and bake.
Meet the Students
Sabrina Edwards- Social Media Assistant
Sabrina is a senior managerial marketing major with minors in international business and public relations. When she’s not monitoring Hootsuite, you can find her watching Hulu, perfecting her LinkedIn profile or working out at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center! Upon graduating this May, Sabrina hopes to move back to Pittsburgh and work downtown full-time in her favorite city!
Megan Ferguson - Social Media Assistant
Megan is a senior public relations major with a minor in marketing and has been working at UCM as a social media assistant for two semesters. Megan has been a member of Phi Mu for four years and loves being a part of the Kent State community. In her free time, Megan loves to exercise, travel and cook.
Jacob Majka - Social Media Assistant
Jacob is a junior public relations major with a marketing minor. He has worked at UCM for a year and has also been involved in Student Media organizations such as Black Squirrel Radio and the Kent Stater. He is a huge NBA fan and cheers on his hometown Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills. Jake will graduate in May 2020 and is looking to pursue a career in public relations or marketing in sports or entertainment.
Ashley Purnell - Social Media Assistant
Ashley is a senior public relations major and this is her first semester as a social media assistant at UCM. Some of her professional experiences include interning at PR Newswire last summer, as well as placing second in the nation for the 2018 PRSSA Bateman Case Study Competition. In her free time, Ashley loves taking pictures of her dog, listening to music and trying out new restaurants.
