Kent State University at Stark announces the appointment of three new members of its advisory board. Joining the advisory board are Emil Alecusan, Brent May and Tena Wilson.
Emil Alecusan is the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Brewster Cheese in Brewster, OH. Alecusan previously held financial management positions at Colfor Manufac-turing, Babcock & Wilcox and Republic Steel. Additionally, he holds board positions with Arts in Stark, Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce and Aultman Health Foundation. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in business administration from The University of Akron. He and his wife Kristine, a Canton city school teacher, reside in Canton.
Brent May is currently the superintendent of Plain Local Schools, the same district where he began his career as a fourth grade teacher. After spending time working in the Twinsburg City Schools, May returned to Plain in 2002 to serve as assistant principal at Taft Middle School. Two years later, he moved to GlenOak High School as assistant principal. There, he instituted the first online learning opportunity for all students in grades 7-12 using the Florida Virtual School Curriculum. May received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Malone College and a master’s degree in elementary and secondary administration from Ashland University. May holds board positions with the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, Arts in Stark and North Canton YMCA. He and his wife, Becky, live in Plain Township with their three children.
Tena Wilson serves as the executive director at the Stark County District Library. Her expertise in marketing, budgeting and operations stems from an early career in designing bookmobiles. Wilson has spent more than 25 years in management at multiple libraries, including Cleve-land Public Library, Stark County District Library’s Lake Community Branch in Hartville and Winnetka-Northfield Library in Kenilworth, IL. A graduate of the 27th class of the Leader-ship Stark Signature Program, Wilson serves on the boards of Women’s Impact, Inc., Canton Tomorrow, Inc. and Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Stark County. She and her husband, John, have two daughters and three grandchildren.
Alecusan, May and Wilson join current Kent State University at Stark Advisory Board members: Hortense Bobbitt, Jacqueline DeGarmo, Rick L. Haines (chair), Robert Hankins (vice chair), John Humphrey, Jr., Bob Leibensperger, Scott Pollock, Richard S. Regula and State Representative Kirk Schuring.
The purpose of the Kent State University at Stark Advisory Board is to represent the interests of both the local community and Kent State University in the overall development of higher educational programs for the campus’ service area.
