COVID-19 Vaccine Student Compliance

Dear Kent State University Students,

Kent State is now in phase two of its COVID-19 vaccine requirement, and we encourage you to act. Don’t procrastinate, vaccinate!

Get Vaccinated

Vaccines are readily available weekdays on the Kent Campus at the DeWeese Health Center and at numerous other locations throughout Northeast Ohio, many of which are very near our campuses.

Register Your Vaccine

If you are fully vaccinated and have not yet submitted your vaccination status, please take the time to do so now so that you will be exempt from future COVID-19 testing. Once vaccinated, students should upload proof of their vaccine here. Within Kent State, only University Health Services will have access to this vaccination data.

Deadline for Compliance

By Dec. 20, you are required to be fully vaccinated and to have registered your vaccine with the university or you are to have received an approved exemption from vaccination and begun taking part in the university’s COVID-19 testing protocol.

The requirement to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Dec. 20 is for all students, faculty and staff, including part-time employees, who study, work or engage in activities on any of our campuses and/or participate in a study-away or study-abroad program.

Students whose classes are fully remote or online are not subject to the vaccine requirement. However, any online student who will be on campus for any reason, for example to use the library, is subject to the vaccine requirement and is expected to get vaccinated or obtain an exemption.

Students who fail to comply with the vaccine requirement, or if granted an exemption fail to comply with the required testing, may face progressive discipline that could include prohibition from registering for future in-person classes and attending on-campus activities.

Request an Exemption

Kent State will consider exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccine requirement for medical, religious beliefs or personal conscience reasons. Visit our exemption page to learn how to apply for an exemption from the COVID-19 vaccine requirement and to access the necessary forms.

Students whose classes are fully remote or online are not subject to the vaccine requirement and therefore do not have to apply for an exemption unless they plan to be on campus for any reason, in which case they must either be vaccinated or obtain an exemption.

Please understand that if you receive an exemption from vaccination, you will be required to submit to regular testing (up to two times a week) from the time your exemption is granted to be compliant.

Weekly Testing

From now through the end of the semester, all students who have not registered their vaccination or received an exemption will be sent an email each week asking them to submit to weekly COVID-19 testing at one of the Visit Healthcare locations on the Kent Campus or by other designated testing means for those on Regional Campuses.

Our vaccine requirement was put in place to ensure that Kent State provides the safest possible living and learning environment for our community. Please act now to comply with the vaccine requirement. It is the best way to show how Flashes Take Care of Flashes!
