The Student Survey of Instruction Review


In 2000 Faculty Senate Appointed a Joint Commission on the Evaluation of Instruction. This committee, represented by the various constituencies across the university, began examining all elements associated with the evaluation of teaching. By 2004 this commission had created, tested and formed the Student Survey of Instruction (SSI) that is currently in use. Then, seven years later, the Faculty Senate Commission to Evaluate Current Methods of Assessing Teaching Quality was formed to revisit not only the current SSI, but to also examine the other forms of teaching assessment. Several recommendations were made by this committee including strategies for moving to an online version of this form.
