Terms and Conditions for Meal Plan Purchases
The meal plan is required of all students who do not meet at least one criterion for exemption under the university policy regarding student housing. In the event of an authorized contract release, the meal plan would be refunded in accordance with the following guidelines. During the first two weeks of each semester:
100% of the total cost of the plan minus any declining balance usage
Weeks Three (3) through Weeks Four (4):
75% of the total cost of the plan minus the following deductions:
- Any declining balance used
- The daily rate times the number of AYCTE (All You Care to Eat) operating days in the semester until the request was approved
- Daily rate calculated by the cost of the meal swipe portion of the meal plan divided by the number of operating days in a semester
Week Five (5) through Six (6):
50% of the total cost of the plan minus the following deductions:
- Any declining balance used
- The daily rate times the number of AYCTE (All You Care to Eat) operating days in the semester until the request was approved
- Daily rate calculated by the cost of the meal swipe portion of the meal plan divided by the number of operating days in a semester
Week Seven (7) through the conclusion of the semester:
There are no refunds after the seventh week of the semester
Purchases of meal plans after the first two weeks of each semester:
A cancelation will be approved and a full refund will be processed if a student requests to cancel a meal plan after the Add/Drop period, but within 2 business days of the purchase.
Summer semester meal plans:
Summer meal plans are a voluntary signup that follow current University Culinary Services policies. These meal plans are available throughout the summer semester and are NOT refundable after usage. At the end date for the meal plans, Any swipes remaining will be forfeited. Any declining balance remaining at the end of the semester will rollover to the next semester as long as you remain a student at Kent State University. Funds remaining in your meal plan account at the time of your departure from the university (academic dismissal, non-enrollment, or graduation) revert back to the university and shall NOT be refunded. Meal plan accounts are not transferable.
