Early Childhood Intervention Specialist Licensure Preparation (Non-Degree)
The ECIS licensure provides individuals with the coursework and field experiences necessary to work effectively with children with diverse learning abilities in variety of special education settings from preschool to grade 3.
The ECIS licensure track is offered at the graduate level as a initial license or for individuals interested in a second license. Upon completion, candidates are eligible for the Ohio Department of Education Early Childhood Intervention Specialist teaching license. Individuals interested in the program can complete the requirements as part of their master’s degree or as a non-degree seeking student independent from a special education degree.
Admissions Requirements
Official transcript(s) from Baccalaureate program, minimum 2.75 GPA; goal statement; two letters of recommendation, Questions in Anticipation of Licensure form, and proof of a valid (unexpired), Ohio Resident Educator or Professional Teaching License.
Annual Application Deadlines for the Non-Degree SPED Initial Licensure Preparation programs (these deadlines do not apply to additional licensure preparation programs)
Fall Initial Licensure Application Deadline: July 1
Spring Initial Licensure Application Deadline: December 1
Summer Initial Licensure Application Deadline: April 1
