Advanced Degrees

Students can choose from three advanced degree programs in Special Education, preparing them for careers in leadership, higher education, and research. 

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): Designed to prepare highly qualified, experienced persons for roles as teacher educators and researchers.
  • Educational Specialist (Ed.S.): Designed to meet the needs of post-master's degree students who want to assume leadership roles in schools and agencies that provide specialized support to children, youth, and adults who have disabilities.
  • Doctor of Education (Ed.D.): The Special Education cognate area in the Interprofessional Leadership Ed.D. program is designed to prepare students for leadership roles in improving the practice of special education.
