National Writing Project

The National Writing Project at Kent State University (NWP-KSU) has been a National Writing Project site since 1997. NWP-KSU is committed to improving teaching and learning in Northeast Ohio through teacher leadership and professional development.


With NWP-KSU, teachers of all subjects and grade levels can:

  • Share effective practices

  • Collaborate with colleagues

  • Grow as writers

  • Improve the teaching of writing

Register for Invitational Summer Institute

Join educators from throughout Northeast Ohio this summer for the Invitational Summer Institute (ISI), a reading, writing, and professional development workshop that provides plenty of fresh ideas for engaging students in reading and writing. It's also a wonderful opportunity to make connections with educators who are passionate about bringing the best learning experiences to their students.
 
The 8 day institute will be offered online beginning June 8th and ending June 24th.This workshop can be taken for participation only ($550), 3 hours of graduate workshop credit ($550 plus $486), or master’s/doctoral credit (C&I 67312, Teaching Writing as a Process, 3 graduate credit hours).

Interested in earning KSU graduate workshop credit?
 
A more in-depth book study for each text will take place between 4/14-5/14. Teachers will use the text to guide the creation of lessons (Between the Commas)
or a mini-unit (Writing Redefined). Participate in one book study or both! Each workshop will cost $162.
