  • 185,000 people work in fashion in NYC with wages totaling 11.3 billion dollars yearly. 
  • The three largest fashion companies in the world – Nike, TJX (TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, Marshalls), and VF Corporation (Lee, North Face, Timberland)– all have offices in NYC. 
  • New York City is home to the top leading magazine publishers in the US - Hearst Magazines (Elle, Esquire, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, Oprah, and Marie Claire), Condé Nast (Vogue, Glamour, W, Women’s Wear Daily, and GQ), and Meredith (Real Simple and Essence) - which are all headquartered in the city, as are some of the largest advertising companies in the world. 
  • 1 in 20 of New Yorkers work in the fashion industry and 33% of fashion designers in the US work in NYC. 
  • New York Fashion Week hosts more shows than London, Paris, and Milan, combined. 
  • New York Fashion Week had nearly 68 percent more followers (452,000) than its next closest competitor, Paris Fashion Week (269,500).
  • The hashtag #nyfw had nearly three times as many posts (5.6 million) compared to that of #parisfashionweek (2.0 million).
