Q. How can I check the status of my FAFSA application?
Processing for the 2024-25 FAFSA® form has begun!
To view any updates related to your FAFSA form status, you can check the “My Activity” section of your StudentAid.gov dashboard.
Later in March, you will be able to add any missing signatures, add or update schools, and address any errors.
Q. When does the 2024-2025 FAFSA become available?
The 24-25 FAFSA was live starting Dec. 31, 2023.
Q. What semesters are covered by my 2024-2025 FAFSA?
At Kent State University, Summer 2024, Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 terms are included in the 24-25 FAFSA application. Each school determines if summer is part of the new year FAFSA or the previous year.
Q. What is the 2024-2025 FAFSA suggested filing date for Kent State?
Kent State recommends that you complete your FAFSA by March 15, 2024 so that we can provide financial aid information to you sooner. You may file after March 1, however you should do so as soon as possible.
Q. I completed my 2024-2025 FAFSA but Kent State does not show that it has been received. Is there a problem?
If you provided all the required information and your application is showing “in review” and shows a “submitted” date when you log into studentaid.gov, your FAFSA will be processed in the first half of March, according to Federal Student Aid at the Department of Education. We will not receive it until then.
Q. What happens after my FAFSA is processed?
After you submit the FAFSA and it is officially “processed”, you will receive an email with a "FAFSA Submission Summary”. Read more about What Happens After you submit your FAFSA.
Q. If we submitted a 2024-2025 FAFSA, when will it be processed by the federal government and sent to schools?
In an announcement on January 30, 2024, Federal Student Aid informed the financial aid community that the FASFA information will not be sent to schools until “the first half of March”. This means that students will also not receive a FAFSA submission summary until the first half of March.
Q. Am I able to make corrections to my submitted FAFSA before it is processed in March 2024?
At this time, our understanding is that corrections can’t be made to the FAFSA until the FAFSA is officially processed in March of 2024. We will update our FAQs if further information becomes available. Corrections to a submitted FAFSA can be made once you have been notified by Federal Student Aid. We expect this to occur by the first half of April.
Q. When will the financial aid offers be sent out to students for the Fall 2024 semester? I am anxious to determine my college choice. The cost and amount of financial aid I will receive are important factors for me to consider.
Due to the FAFSA having a delayed submission to schools until March, offer letters to students which list the financial aid offered will be sent after that date. We hope to send them as soon as possible after the first half of March.
