Grad Chronicle: September 2020
Message from the Dean
Dear Graduate Students:
First and foremost, I hope your semester is off to a great start. As others have said, this semester is like no other. Clearly, this semester is testing our resiliency in every aspect. However, I trust in you and your success this semester and beyond.
As I look around on campus, I am so proud to see how we have started this semester safely! I am very pleased with how everyone is adhering to the Flashes Safe Seven and is taken the guidance to heart. Flashes take care of Flashes and it is important that we continue to make these short-term investments for a long-term gain. Our future will be brighter because of it.
While I have much hope, I am also deeply disappointed in the acts of open racism that have occurred on campus. Let me be clear, everyone is welcome at Kent State University and we will not tolerate any acts of racism, violence or terrorism. As a scholar of interpersonal violence, I want you to know my deep commitment to help make Kent State University a safe place for anyone and everyone to learn, work, live and thrive. Flashes take care of all Flashes.
As we move through the semester, please be on the lookout for communication updates regarding campus operations and academic policies and challenges. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact graduatestudies@kent.edu.
