2018 Banner Upgrade

The Division of Information Services is in the process of upgrading Kent State's Banner ERP system to a new version.

Internet Native Banner (INB) pages are used by many administrative and academic departments. These pages are the Banner web application used by the university to access the Banner system for day-to-day business. Banner INB is used to manage student information, financial information, financial aid information, alumni/advancement data, and human resource information. The primary users are administrative staff members across all campuses. Access to Banner INB is controlled by special security privileges.

Updates to the Admin Pages of the system are currently underway with testing in the development environments, eMOCK and eQA, occurring throughout 2018.

The new version includes an updated user interface and an Application Navigator tool for improved page navigation.

The upgrade is scheduled to occur beginning Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, 6:00 p.m. EDT and ending on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, 6:00 p.m. EDT. A planned interruption to FlashLine Self Service Banner (SSB) and Banner INB will be necessary during that time. A future phase will apply the upgrade to Self-Service Banner (SSB) pages.

Banner 9 (INB) Highlights

  • The functionality remains the same.
  • The navigation keys have been updated. (See Quick Guide and Keystroke Shortcut).
  • The new version is no longer dependent on Java.
  • Self-Service Banner (SSB) is not being upgraded at this time.

During Fall Break 2018, Information Services will be upgrading Banner 8 INB to Banner 9 Administrative Pages. During the upgrade planning, all INB modifications were reviewed and accommodated in preparation for the Fall implementation.
