Planned Interruption to FlashLine Self Service Banner (SSB) & Cognos Reporting

When regular maintenance or critical updates need applied to our Banner environment, the Division of Information Technology will make the university community aware of when to anticipate the upgrade to Banner will start and when they expect the work to conclude.

During this time most applications, including Banner, will be intermittently unavailable. All services will resume immediately after maintenance concludes.

During those times, the following services WILL experience a service interruption:

  • Canvas, unless accessed at
  • Course registration
  • Class schedules
  • Financial aid
  • Human resources materials
  • Grades
  • Phone directory
  • Leave reporting
  • Workflows
  • Cognos reporting 
  • KSU Advising


The following services will NOT experience any service interruption:

  • Kent State email
  • Microsoft 365 and Google solutions
  • Flash ALERTS
