Experiential Learning

Learning by doing.  That's experiential learning at Kent State.

At Kent State University, students are encouraged to explore the numerous ways in which they may learn through direct experience.  Opportunities for enrichment abound through experiential education, service learning, internships, research and education abroad.

Find out more by exploring the many opportunities available to students below.

Community Engaged Learning

Community Engaged Learning serves as the university nexus for campuswide experiential learning offerings. Through Community Engaged Learning, faculty and students obtain the support services to facilitate academic infusion and the combined use of experiential learning and civic engagement.

Career Exploration and Development

Career Exploration and Development assists students with preparing for and obtaining internship experiences that build professional skills, increase marketability to potential employers and help solidify career plans. Career Exploration and Development also works with organizations seeking interns who can bring new and innovative ideas to the workplace and help contribute to their success. Faculty may request classroom presentations, refer professional contacts and investigate internship options for their students.

Undergraduate Research and Opportunities

Undergraduate students engaging in research or working on a creative activity work closely with prominent faculty members and researchers, learn more about an area of interest, apply classroom knowledge and expand their skill set.

Education Abroad

Studying abroad is a life-changing experience. Students studying abroad earn credit toward graduation while experiencing life in a different country, practicing a language they have been studying and developing valuable life skills.
