Undergraduate Admission

When you enter Kent State University as a freshman or as a transfer student, you will be admitted directly into one of our majors/concentrations.

Current Kent State students wishing to pursue a School of Media and Journalism major must have a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher to be admitted directly into our program and must maintain a 2.00 cumulative and 2.7 major GPA or higher to graduate and take courses within the major. Failure to do so will result in students not being permitted to enroll in Media and Journalism courses until they have met with an academic advisor to create a plan of study. In addition, no grade lower than a C- in a major course will be counted toward graduation or as a prerequisite for a subsequent class.

Current and transfer students are encouraged to meet with a CCI academic advisor to declare a major.

For more information contact Associate Professor Mitch McKenney, Undergraduate Coordinator, via e-mail at mmckenne@kent.edu or through the School's main office at (330) 672-2572.
