Dr. Lovejoy was elected to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. The Academy is one of the oldest learned societies in our nation and was founded in 1780 by a group led by John Adams and James Bowdoin. The distinguished list of members includes George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Martin Luther King, Jr., Charles Darwin, and Albert Einstein.
