Flu shots and more covered at select locations

The changing seasons are upon us, and the flu season has begun! Kent State employees and dependents covered by the Kent State's health plans are eligible to receive flu shots and other vaccines covered under their medical benefits. Vaccines are available at:

  • Kent State University's DeWeese Health Center
  • Your in-network provider's office
  • A Medical Mutual-contracted pharmacy, or
  • A CVS MinuteClinic (not at the CVS Pharmacy)

Employees can schedule and fill out paperwork online ahead of time and then show up day of the event to get the flu shot.

Employee Wellness Program

Make an appointment for your biometric screening by logging into the BeWell Portal. Flu shots and biometric screenings are available for full-time, benefits-eligible employees as part of the wellness rewards program. Visit the Employee Wellness website for detailed information on additional dates, times and locations.

Receiving a Vaccine at a Medical Mutual Contracted Pharmacy or a MinuteClinic inside CVS

If you choose to go to a contracted pharmacy, the pharmacist must file and submit the claim directly under the medical benefits for the claim to be processed and paid. Vaccines administered at a Convenience Care location or Minute-Clinic must be billed through the minute-clinic and are considered in-network charges. CVS Pharmacy will no longer process vaccines and immunizations through the medical plan.

Employees must show their Medical Mutual ID card at the time of their visit PRIOR to the vaccine being administered.

Please note that flu shots and vaccines not billed through the medical plan are not covered expenses. The pharmacy must submit the claim to Medical Mutual under the Medical Benefits in order for the claim to be processed and paid. If the pharmacist fails to submit the claim through Medical Mutual, the vaccine will not be considered a covered or reimbursable expense.

SuperMed® Network pharmacies include:

Discount Drug Mart
Giant Eagle
Marc’s
Meijer
Rite Aid
Sam’s Club/Walmart

Find a MinuteClinic located inside of CVS in the In-Network Directory and Preventive Care Guidelines brochure in the "More Information" section on our Medical Plan webpage.
