Director and Professor Kendra Albright, Ph.D., co-edited the book Literacy Behind Bars: Successful Reading and Writing Strategies for Use with Incarcerated Youth and Adults, with Karen Gavigan and Mary E. Styslinger. The book was published by Rowman & Littlefield Publishers in January 2017.
Director and Professor Kendra Albright, Ph.D., gave the keynote address at the May 4, 2017, NEO-RLS workshop on how librarians can help patrons suffering from drug addiction, homelessness or mental illness. Albright discussed her research on how information and communication can help solve problems in communities.

Associate Professor Meghan Harper, Ph.D., published the article “Helping students who hurt: Care based policies and practices for the school library" in School Libraries Worldwide, the official professional peer-reviewed research journal of the International Association of School Librarianship.
Associate Professor, Meghan Harper, Ph.D., has been invited to speak at the Church and Synagogue Library Association conference in Rochester, N.Y., on July 14-18. She will give two presentations, one on developing management policies and procedures for libraries and one on helping those who hurt by providing pastoral care through curated collections of resources.

Associate Professor Kiersten F. Latham, Ph.D. and her research collaborators (Andrew Pekarik, Smithsonian Institution; James Schreiber, Duquesne University; and Jean Francois Leger, Canadian Museum of History) presented “Using Experiments to Improve Visitor Experience” on May 10, 2017, at the American Alliance of Museums conference in St. Louis, Mo. The presentation addresses the IPOP theory as applied in the MuseLab’s recent “Mona Lisa X4” exhibit.
