Define Your Success

Kent State University is committed to your success. We offer a plethora of resources designed to support your academic career - both personally and professionally.

Success

Now that we have heard about some ways to ensure holistic success, let’s focus specifically on academic success!

The Academic Success Center (ASC) helps students become independent learners through a variety of academic support options, including:

  • Supplemental Instruction (SI) provides structured group study sessions led by a trained peer facilitator who plans games and activities to review difficult course concepts.
    • Sessions are offered multiple times each week giving students the opportunity to study with peers and develop course-specific learning strategies.
  • Tutoring options are available to fit every learning need, these include:
    • Scheduled Tutoring Sessions - Looking for tutoring that fits your schedule? Choose one-time or recurring, weekly appointments; available for a variety of Kent Core mathematics, humanities, fine arts, social science and basic science courses.
    • Drop-in Tutoring Sessions  - Quick question? Drop-in tutoring is the answer! Available for many science and math courses.
    • eTUTORING Sessions  - This service is provided by student tutors from colleges and universities across Ohio. Tutors help with content but not specific Kent State courses or professors. Supported courses vary each semester, but often include accounting, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, psychology and writing.
    • Academic Coaching - In academic coaching, you will work with a peer coach throughout the semester to help you develop learning skills and study strategies for your courses. Coaches provide a supportive environment structured to hold you accountable to your short- and long-term goals. Most important, coaching is all about you! You’ll work in partnership with your coach toward academic and personal success through goal setting, personal assessment, skill development, and consistent, ongoing support.
