Emmy Awards Broadcast Leadership to Speak at Kent State March 14

As television industry leaders prepare for the future, they are looking to get today’s college students involved in major industry events, like the regional and national Emmy Awards.

On March 14, two leaders from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) will be speaking with Kent State students to discuss the future of the television industry and how they can be involved.

Terry O’Reilly, Chairman, and Adam Sharp, President and CEO of NATAS, will speak at 2 p.m. on March 14, 2023, in Franklin Hall 340. In their roles, O’Reilly and Sharp produce the National Emmy Awards Broadcast for Daytime Television and other Emmy events.

This is just the start of Kent State’s collaboration with Emmy broadcasts. This summer, Kent State students will be producing the backstage stream of the Regional Emmy Awards at LaCentre Conference & Banquet Facility in Westlake. Students will serve as directors, technical directors, audio board operators, video editors, photographer, on-air talent and more.

Adjunct Instructor Sam Angello, who teaches Multimedia Engineering and Production Fundamentals in the School of Media and Journalism, has been involved in producing the Regional Emmy Awards for years and is coordinating this opportunity. Interested students should apply by April 1.

With questions, contact Angello at sangello@kent.edu.
