University policy regarding research compliance

  1. Policy statement. The university, in the course of carrying out its teaching, research, and service missions, engages in research involving the use of human subjects and vertebrate animals, across a wide array of academic disciplines and administrative functions.  To protect the rights, dignity and welfare of all human subjects participating in research conducted on behalf of Kent state, the university shall establish and maintain a human subjects protection program, and to ensure that vertebrate animals used in research, testing and teaching at Kent state are treated humanely, the university shall establish and maintain an animal care and use program. 
  2. The vice president for research and sponsored programs is responsible for developing and implementing the human subjects protection program and the animal care and use program.
