Roadwork on East Summit Street has resumed as crews work to finish the remaining part of the improvement project.

Roadwork on East Summit Street has resumed as crews work to finish the remaining part of the improvement project.

One-way, eastbound traffic began over the weekend on Summit Street between Morris Road/Janik Drive to Fraternity Circle. Access to parking lots on that stretch of Summit Street will be maintained. West Campus Center Drive will be closed at Summit Street, and motorists should use Risman Drive to enter the Kent Student Center parking lot.

The one-way traffic pattern in this area is expected to continue through the end of the spring semester. Please remember that weather or other factors can always delay scheduled closings or work.

The roadwork will result in changes for three PARTA bus routes, effective April 2. The Summit Street Express (#54), Allerton (#55) and Akron Express (#90) buses will continue to provide service to the Kent Student Center using Allerton Street, but there will be no additional stops along the routes.

Project updates are always available at www.kent.edu/summitstreet. For more information, contact the city of Kent’s Division of Engineering at 330-678-8106 or email summitst@kent.edu.
