The exceptional work of Kent State students and a faculty member were recognized at the Public Relations Society of America – Greater Cleveland’s ROCKS Awards ceremony on Nov. 18.
A public relations campaign created for the EveryLibrary Institute, a national organization dedicated to building voter support for libraries, won a Gold Award in the competition’s Integrated Campaigns category.
The campaign was developed in a Kent State class in which student teams are challenged to develop a campaign for submission to the Public Relations Student Society of America’s national Bateman Case Study Competition.
The student team’s roster included Paige Johnson and Maya Lee, senior public relations majors; Jess Edmisten and Jeremy DeLoop, senior communications studies majors, Caitlyn Soya, a junior public relations major and Ana Julia Cechin Facco, a senior with a double major in public relations and advertising. Their work supported the EveryLibrary Institute’s ongoing mission of defending libraries and access to information.
Professor Michele Ewing, professor in Kent State’s School of Media and Journalism, Tim Roberts, senior lecturer - emeritus and Olivia Eastly, Kent State alumna and marketing and communications specialist at the Akron Community Foundation served as advisors to the winning student team.
Stefanie Moore, a professor in Kent State’s School of Media and Journalism, received the Public Relations Society of America, Greater Cleveland Chapter’s Davis Young Award for Exceptional Mentors. This award is presented each year to recognize a professional who excels in mentoring students and young professionals through hands-on instruction and support.
Moore congratulated the Kent State students who were recognized for their outstanding work and said that she was
"incredibly honored" to receive the Davis Young Award. "It means so much to be recognized alongside the outstanding mentors who received this award before me, including those who've guided me in my own career. I’m especially grateful to my student who took the time to nominate me."
Congratulations, Golden Flashes!
