Professor Tapped To Discuss Digital COVID-19 Misinformation

Stefanie Moore, professor in the School of Media and Journalism, was featured on WFMJ-TV (Youngstown) to discuss the recent backlash Spotify had faced surrounding misinformation.

Moore, who teaches courses including Social Media Strategies and Digital Public Relations, shared her expertise on the issue while explaining the relevance of podcasts in the ongoing conversations surrounding COVID-19 misinformation.

"It's really a tricky balance between freedom of expression and misinformation, but we really have to make sure we remember not all information is protected, especially information that could lead to harm," Moore told WFMJ-TV.

That is information she passionately shares with her students, who often are future professionals in media.

"We want to actually see policies being enforced, being consistently enforced and we want to be more transparent with how they're adhering to the public," Moore said.
