Individual Income Tax Assistance

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $56,000 or less, persons age 60 and up, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers (except those who need to prepare Form 1040NR) who need assistance in preparing their own tax return. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.

Kent State VITA is not operating this year due to COVID.

The University of Akron prepares nonresident alien student returns - check the Akron EITC website for dates and locations.

You may be able to prepare your own return online by using  This may be free if your income is less than $60,000.
