  • The Kent State University Board of Trustees appointed Barry E. Fetterman as a National Trustee, to serve a three-year term effective September 15, 2021.

    Trustee Fetterman retired from Sirach Capital Management, an institutional investment management firm in June of 2004 after serving as a principal and portfolio manager since 1990. In addition, he was a member of the firm's Board of Directors.

    His career included a wide range of experiences in the finance industry. He was one of four original partners in a boutique investment banking firm. He spent ten years with SEI Corporation, a leading financial services firm, in a number of positions including Vice President/Western Regional Manager. Trustee Fetterman additionally provided consulting services to 50 of the largest investment management firms in the Western United States while at SEI. His career began at IBM Corporation where he worked in Cleveland in the Data Processing Division marketing computer solutions to financial institutions.

    Trustee Fetterman met his wife while both were attending Kent State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1974 and a Master of Business Administration degree in 1976. He was a four-year letterman and two-year co-captain of the varsity soccer team. Trustee Fetterman has continued to serve his alma mater as a member of the Centennial Commission and since 2000 he has been a member of the Board of the Kent State University Foundation. He previously served as Investment Committee Chair and Board Chair. Trustee Fetterman was one of five members of a special committee tasked with the development of the Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center.

    He has been active on a number of local non-profit boards including six years on the Bainbridge Island Land Trust where he served one term as president, the Bainbridge Island Parks Foundation, and a term as a trustee of the Bainbridge Community Foundation. He additionally served on the Investment Committee of Kindering, a Seattle nonprofit that provides services to special needs children and their parents.
