In the March 21 Crain's Cleveland Business "Afternoon 5" email, an article written by Kim Palmer reported:

Mandy Munro-Stasiuk, Candidate for Dean of Arts and Sciences

Mandy Munro-Stasiuk, Ph.D., dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Kent State University, has been named to the board of the Cleveland Water Alliance (CWA). The CWA is a nonprofit focused on the Great Lakes region's freshwater economy.

Munro-Stasiuk is one of five new members of the board, including Meredith Bond, interim Cleveland State University dean of the College of Graduate Studies; Tushar Patel, director of finance for Eaton's digital office; Stephanie Smith, Xylem's water and climate product development and sustainability manager; and Bonnie Teeuwen, chief operating officer for the city of Cleveland. The CWA also elected Kirsten Ellenbogen, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Great Lakes Science Center, as the board's new chair. Ellenbogen is a founding CWA board member.

"We are incredibly fortunate to welcome these talented and experienced leaders to our organization," Bryan Stubbs, CWA president and executive director, said in a statement. "The board additions join us at a pivotal time for our organization. From our recently launched the Freshwater Innovation Fund to our world-class water accelerator testbed which will cover 12,000 square miles of Lake Erie by the end of this year, our momentum is strong -- and these exceptional leaders will help us sustain and build toward an even stronger future."

Munro-Stasiuk previously served as the Chair of the Department of Geography, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, and Interim Senior Associate Provost for Academic Affairs. She is active in research and collaborates on federally-funded research projects that examine the intersection of humans and the environment. She is especially interested in water processes, infrastructure, and resources and has worked extensively in Canada, Iceland, Mexico, Cambodia and the United States.
