Take Nine Poetry Group to Perform at Kent State on January 30

We are excited to announce that the first Wick Poetry Center reading of 2013 is Take Nine. Take Nine is a group of nine Cleveland area poets who read, eat, and write together. Among the group are two former Cleveland Heights Poet Laureates, winners of Artist Fellowships from the Ohio Arts Council and the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture, editors of literary journals and anthologies, poetry workshop instructors, arts managers, winners of awards from Northern Ohio Live, the Ohio Educational Broadcasting Corporation and the Cleveland Press Club among others.  There is a Pushcart Award nominee, a performance poet, former radio and television producers, a past Haiku Death Match champion, and a poet featured on Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion.”

Together their work has been published in more than 100 local and national journals, e-journals, anthologies, and soon on a music and poetry CD.  But above all, they are nine friends who laugh together on a regular basis, and challenge and support each other in their shared love of the written and spoken word.

The members of Take Nine include Gail Bellamy, Kathleen Cerveny, Katie Daley, Meredith Holmes, Bonnie Jacobson, Rita Grabowski, Darlene Montonaro, Linda Goodman Robiner, and Cindy Washabaugh.

The reading will take place at 7:30 p.m. on January 30 in room 306 AB of the Kent Student Center. The reading is free and open to the public.
