Welcome to the School of Engineering at Kent State University!
Created in 2025 within College of Aeronautics and Engineering, the School of Engineering is committed to graduating the best engineering professionals supporting the aerospace, cybersecurity, and automated mechatronics industries. The state of Ohio is ranked fourth of all states in Aerospace Attractiveness, is the number one supplier of manufactured aerospace components and systems and is ranked fourth in the number of aerospace engineering jobs.
The school supports workforce development that will enhance Ohio’s dominant role in aerospace and aviation even further. Investment in the college is reflected in the university's Master Plan, which includes the FedEx Aeronautics and Academic Center at the Kent State University Airport and the 40,000 square foot expansion of the existing Aeronautics and Engineering Building.

The College of Aeronautics and Engineering was recently featured in U.S. News and World Report's 2024 Best Colleges as the highest-ranked public institution in northern Ohio on the Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs.
The school also houses a number of research centers. These include:
- Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, a cybersecurity knowledge sharing and training center in North East Ohio, educating the community of Kent in cybersecurity and contributing to cybersecurity through active research.
- Digital Engineering Design Center, providing digital engineering lifecycle education and research opportunities to undergraduate students with year-long internships.
- Ohio Cyber Range Institute Regional Programming Center, a partnership with state government entities to strengthen cybersecurity education and workforce development.
