    Biography

    Dr. Hahn joined the faculty at Kent State in 2026. Prior to that, he served as a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where he conducted advanced imaging experiments on combustion and flow behavior in supersonic wind tunnels. He obtained his Ph.D. in Fluid Mechanics from the University of Notre Dame, where his dissertation research focused on the morphology and dynamics of pseudoshocks under active and passive flow control. He also holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, cum laude, from Notre Dame.

    Dr. Hahn's research centers on high-speed and hypersonic propulsion, with particular expertise in shock train dynamics, plasma-based flow control, and supersonic isolator design. His work spans both computational and experimental methods, from RANS/URANS simulations of complex flowpaths to wind tunnel campaigns using advanced diagnostic techniques such as mid-infrared absorption imaging and thermography. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with organizations including the Air Force Research Laboratory and Pratt & Whitney, and his research has been published in journals such as the AIAA Journal and Aerospace Science & Technology.
