The 2022 Fashion Show features 97 looks and 30 designers whose collections and single-submission garments were chosen by a panel of critics and jurors for inclusion in this year’s show. The collections and garments span all categories of fashion and include lingerie, evening wear, gender-neutral, size inclusive and more.
The annual Fashion Show, led by senior co-producers Mikayla Doughney and Joanna Georges and faculty advisors Kim Hahn, Sue Yoder, David Hahn and Joanne Arnett, is the largest event undertaken by the School of Fashion each year. The production includes participation by School of Fashion students who serve on committees in the areas of design, merchandising, modeling, public relations and stage.
The same panel of critics and jurors who selected the finalists also chose the award-winning designs. The 2022 critics, who reviewed the B.F.A. collections, are Laura Laurens of Laura Laurens, Juan José Saenz-Ferreyros of Ferreyros and Paul Carroll of Paul Carroll. The 2022 jurors, who reviewed the single-submission garments, are Jaanai Jones (Men's Denim Designer, Levi’s), William McNicol (Designer and Founder, William Frederick) and Nicki Van Weerdenburg (Senior Pattern Designer, Justice).
The collections and single-submission garments included in the Fashion Show are eligible to win the following awards: Celebration Award, Fashion Show Management Award, Students’ Choice Award, Universal Design Award, Knitwear Award, Sustainable Design Award, Innovation Award, Special Occasions Award, Niche Market Award, Construction Technique Award, TechStyleLAB Award, SUEDEsays Award, Market Ready Award and Best in Show Award. One designer from the 2022 Fashion Show will also be selected to represent the School of Fashion in the Supima Design Competition later this year.
