Our Master of Fashion Industry Studies graduate program focuses on the interdisciplinary nature and business practices of the fashion industry. We welcome industry professionals and students from diverse disciplines, and varied experience. Through a hands-on curriculum that includes an industry practicum/ internship and optional study away travel offerings, our graduates produce innovative research-based solutions for the fashion industry. Your research can be focused and developed around your fashion industry interests. Past focuses include top sustainable consumer practices, African aesthetic-infused knit garments, wearable technology for NASA, the upcycling of military fatigues and more! A limited number of graduate assistantships and scholarships are available to promising applicants.
Virtual Info Sessions
You’re invited to join us for an information session for our MFIS program on Feb. 3 or March 23. During the information sessions, our Fashion Graduate Program Director, Dr. J. Kim-Vick and a panel of current MFIS students will review the curriculum and answer questions about their graduate experience.

Applications must be complete by these above dates to be considered for graduate assistantships. Applications for School of Fashion graduate program are accepted on a rolling basis. Priority is given to applicants who meet the above deadlines. Applications received after the deadlines are accepted as space allows at the discretion of the graduate faculty. Applicants from all majors are welcome!
For the rest of the academic year, Kent State's Office of Graduate Admissions is offering free applications for domestic students planning to start school in Spring, Summer or Fall 2021. If you submit your application during this time, the application fee will be automatically waived. No special code is required.
Don't have an application started? The good news is that you do not need to provide all your application requirements (e.g., transcripts, letters of recommendation, goal statement) when you submit your application. You will retain access to your application portal where you can check the status of your application, upload new documents, or replace previously submitted documents.
