Biography

Jacqueline Hughes is a designer, photographer and knitwear expert. After spending 20+ years as a knitwear designer in New York City, she is proud to return to Kent State as part of the Fashion Design faculty.

Jackie has an extensive background designing for major fashion retailers and brands. She has managed design teams for Ralph Lauren, Isaac Mizrahi and Ann Taylor, among others. A proud alumna of the School of Fashion at Kent State, Jackie has been actively involved with the school for many years. She has served as a critic for several of the Fashion School’s annual fashion shows, a consultant for the knitwear program and a mentor to fashion students as they enter the industry. She is the recipient of the College of the Arts Transforming Lives Alumni Award. Jackie taught design classes at the KSU School of Fashion-NYC for several years before returning to the Kent Campus. She is passionate about the fashion program at Kent State and has hired and connected many Kent State graduates.  Jackie uses industry standard, “real life experience” teaching methods to guide students and prepare them for their careers in fashion.
