Jeffrey Hallam
Biography
Jeff Hallam is the Senior Associate Dean and Professor in the College of Public Health and the Director of the Healthy Communities Research Institute (HCRI) at Kent State University. He oversees research activities and global affairs for the College of Public Health. As HCRI Director, he is responsible for all activities of the research institute. He previously served as Chair of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department in the College of Public Health. Before coming to Kent State, he held academic and leadership positions at the University of Mississippi, Baylor University, and The Ohio State University. His scholarship focuses on the construct validity of health behavior interventions. He is published in leading public health journals, and his research has received national attention by being featured in national magazines and newspapers. Hallam holds a Ph.D. in Health Promotion and Education from The Ohio State University. He is a former president of the American Academy of Health Behavior and served as an elected member of the Executive Board of the American Public Health Association. He has received several prestigious awards for his research and teaching, including from the American Academy of Health Behavior, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, the University of Mississippi School of Applied Sciences, and the Oberteuffer Award from The Ohio State University and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health.
