Student Organizations & Activities

Phi Alpha Theta

Phi Alpha Theta is a national history honor society dedicated to promoting the study of history and civic engagement at all levels of society. The Psi Chapter at Kent State continues this mission through various events such as Fireside Chats with our department faculty, holding an annual food/clothing drive for a local shelter, and speaking with History majors/minors about the organization. https://kent.campuslabs.com/engage/organization/phi-alpha-theta--psi-ch…

Please contact Chapter student president, Harun Miller (jmill377@kent.edu), for more information or to join the mailing list (phialphatheta@listserv.kent.edu).

History Club

Students in History may also participate in the Undergraduate History Club, which organizes excursions to sites of historical interest and promotes collegial relations between students and faculty. Students represent their interests on several Departmental committees. The department keeps in contact with students through a semester newsletter, available in the department's offices.

Historians at Work

An annual workshop series, entitled "Historians at Work," explores the career possibilities for students of history. Professionals from a variety of fields and occupations discuss the use of their training in History in their careers. Workshops in library research methods, resumé writing, and graduate and professional school application are offered as well.
