    Edith Serkownek

    Instructor (School of Information) & Assistant Professor/June F. Mohler Fashion Library Head (University Libraries)

    In addition to her work as Head of the Kent State University Fashion Library, Professor Edith Serkownek is a part-time instructor in the School of Information. Edith has been teaching for the M.L.I.S. program since 2013 and is an alumnus of the program herself. Before receiving her Master’s in Library and Information Science, Edith earned a M.A. in Education, a M.A. in History Museum Studies, and a B.A. in History with a minor in Museum Studies. She has also received her Archival Certification. She has taught courses on the Special Library and Foundations of Museum Studies, and typically teaches the one-credit course LIS 61095 St: Developing Memorable Museum Tours in the Spring.

    Before coming to Kent State, Edith’s work experience included teaching high school, serving as the Site Director of the James A. Garfield National Historic Site, and serving as the Director of the Warren County Historical Society and the Wilder Museum. Her specialties are in museum studies, special librarianship, and archives.
